3/13-3/14 in SEATTLE for Emerald City Comicon

If I could grow a beard in time, I'd be sporting it for the Northwest's favorite comics and popular culture convention, The Emerald City Comicon! Come find me in Artist Alley where I'll have brand new prints of my work, the sort you'd normally only be able to get your hands on at prestgious big-city galleries! Don't let my lack of facial hair fool you. I'm a fancy San Francisco hipster destined for greatness...any minute now.

Regardless, please stop by and say hello if you're there. Here's the info:

TURF #3 Guest Variant Cover

TURF #3 Guest Variant Cover

Tommy Lee Edwards asked me to create a variant cover for issue number three of his upcoming "TURF" comic. Tommy Lee and BBC television personality Jonathan Ross teamed up to create this four-issue limited series for Image Comics. The story takes place in Prohibition-era Manhattan and involves mobsters, vampires, and aliens.
I very honored to be included as a guest artist for this series. Other guest cover artists include Jim Steranko, Bernard Chang and Duncan Fegredo.

Holy smokes, it's almost 2010! It's been a very interesting year, and about a million things happened. Here's a meager rundown of all the trouble I got into this past year:

Here's my "Year in Pictures, 2009" Flickr photo set.

Special thanks to Laughing Squid, Space Adventures, Robogames, Lowerdeck, The Local 303, SomaFM, Super7, Joe at KSFS, The Drygs, Hi-Fructose, The Museum of Robots, Max Toy Co., SCSU, my Twitter homies, and everyone else who made this year memorable. Here's hoping 2010 will be even more amazing.

AUTOMATIC: Art Show Benefit for RoboGames

Do sentient machines dwell on the existential circuit that leads to the spiritual 404 error?
Does being a machine mean just being a device: literarily, artistically and literally?
Or does everything just boil down to everyone?s deep-seated need to crush all humans and plot eventual total world domination?

10/27 Sketch Tuesdays @111 Minna

Come watch your favorite artists draw at 111 Minna Gallery in San Francisco for Sketch Tuesdays. Better yet, bring your sketchbook and draw with them! I'll be at the center table, cranking out the jams for cash and trade. You can expect squids and robots, for sure. I'm also good at pointy teeth and tiki masks.

More info about Sketch Tuesdays can be found on Fecal Face's calendar. Also, check out my coverage of Sketch Tuesday on Laughing Squid.

10/16 Eternal Sleep at 1AM Gallery

I've been working on some new pieces for a "Day of the Dead" themed art show at 1AM Gallery in San Francisco. The show is booked with great talent from around the Bay. It's also 1AM's one-year anniversary event, so it's a great excuse to check out the space. Hope to see you there. Here's more information via 1AM Gallery's website:

eternal_sleep_front

Thanks to our great fans, supporters, and artists, we’ve made it through our FIRST YEAR.  Through the good, the bad, and the ugly from the past year, the most important lesson we have learned is that street and urban art is here to stay.  To commemorate our anniversary year, 1:AM gallery is hosting Eternal Sleep, a tribute to Dia de los Muertos.  For this exhibition, we have reanimated our lineup of artists from our inaugural year to haunt our walls with skulls, death, and the celebration of life through their eyes.  This will be a mergence of the soul of 1:AM with graffiti writers/artists being displayed alongside fine artists, photographers, sculptors, and custom toy designers. Eternal Sleep epitomizes what 1:AM strives to accomplish, bringing people from different walks of life together.

The diverse artist lineup:

Peter Gronquist, Mear One, Mark Bode, 64 Colors, Alice Koswara, Bam, Bryn Taylor, Camer, Carlos A, Dave Crosland, Dia, Dril One, Eli Leppert, Hyde, Jorone, Josh Ellingson, King 157, Kiro, Kob, KRK Ryden, Lango, Laurel Anderson, Lawrence Yang, Lily Black, Nate1, Oliver Fader, Orly Locquaio, Peabe, Pemex, Pete Castro, Phoneticontrol, Reuben Rude, Reyes, Toro, Twick, Vogue

Expect nothing less than a spectrum of art strumming the joyful and mournful tones of life and death that will reverberate to the deepest parts of your soul.

Opening reception is on October 16th from 7 – 10pm. DJ Don Kainoa, Spinnerty, and Bozak will be dropping the beats with guest turntablist from Abstract Revolver.  The opening is a 21+ event.  Exhibition will run through November 6th.
