I'm working on a new print that started as a burlesque poster. Here are some of the working drawings and studies for the image.

Pocket God "Mondo" Skin Pack
Bolt Creative approached me with the idea of redesigning some of the items from their popular "Pocket God" iOS game for a special Artist Series skin-pack. The result was what they are calling the "Mondo" pack. The pack comes bundled with the latest update to Pocket God, "Episode 44: The Perfect Swarm" (with incredible promo art by Aaron Blecha of MonsterSquid). Here's the description from the Bolt blog:
Speaking of guest artists, we are trying something new by having our favorite designers create skin packs. Josh Ellingson (JoshEllingson.com) created a very cool, if somewhat nerdy, Mondo Pack to decorate your islands! He taps into nerd culture (with a retro flair), including toys, monsters and sci-fi. The meteor becomes a 12-sided die, and the outhouse transforms into Dr. Who’s police box! And there’s a sock monkey in there to boot!
Below is a screenshot from the Pocket God Custom Pack Store. There are lots of different customization options in the game, ranging from Holiday themes to custom dance moves for your pygmies.
Here are a few of my concept sketches for the Mondo pack. I wanted to pick things that I would like to see in the game. You can replace some of the statues with mod furniture. You can turn an igloo into an observatory! Many of these items are based on things that I have around my apartment. It's so cool to see my sock monkey in a game!
Previously, I'd created the promo art for Pocket God episodes 40 "Battle of the Gods", and 43 "Killing Time". The game is completely addictive, so be prepared to let all of your Words with Friends and Draw Something games stagnate while you get caught up in pygmy sacrifice!
20 Fishes
In preparation for Emerald City Comicon, I've sketched up twenty drinking fish people. Each of these drawings were made with ink and acrylic paint on miniature wallet-sized canvases. They will be available for sale at the Comicon for ten bucks, so please stop by my table to get yours before it's gone. Prints of the entire set are available now and you can pick one of right here from this post! The prints are signed 11x17" giclées, printed on Moab Photo Rag paper with fade-resistant pigment. They are $20 each and $5 for shipping (rolled in a tube). Photos of the print below.

3/30-4/1 Emerald City Comicon
I'm excited to announce that I'll be at this year's Emerald City Comicon in downtown Seattle, Washington! If you are in the area, you can't miss this event. Seattelites like to dress up so bring your camera. The cosplay at Emerald City Comicon is insane. I'll be tabling in the middle of the convention floor at booth #710 with Real Gone Girl Studios and Jusscope artist Justin Orr. Come for the prints, stay for the high-fives!

"DEAD MEAT" Screen Print
Lately, I've been exploring the links between ancient mythology and popular culture. This is the first in a series that I am creating that draws parallels between the stories of Theseus and Rocky Balboa. "DEAD MEAT" is a four-color screen print produced by Burlesque of North America. It turned out better than I could have imagined with a nice metallic gold ink for the shorts and glove details. The prints are 18x24" on thick Cougar White paper. This edition is limited to fifty prints, signed and numbered. They can be purchased right here on this post or in the Store section of my site.

What is this?
Each month the gallery hosts an evening of live art making featuring both established and emerging Bay Area artists. Inspired by Southern Exposure’s Monster Drawing Rally, 111 Minna offers patrons the opportunity to see local artists at work and get acquainted with them. It is also a way for artists to meet each other and to be inspired by each other’s creative process.
Sketch Tuesdays offers the local arts community a place to congregate, to talk, to create and to be seen. There is usually room for artists to just drop in and start drawing, but the good seats are reserved for the invited artists.
Art is for sale at reasonable prices and will be displayed until the event closes. This is a great opportunity to become a collector and to meet some very talented people!!
