In part one of this post, we'll take a look at why the Pen Tool is awesome and the basics of making lines and curves with it.

In this demonstration, we'll look at how I trace a sketch with paths using the Pen Tool in Illustrator. I'll show you some typical tools and tricks that I use to quickly lay in simple vector lines using an imported drawing as a guide.

In this installment, we'll look at a couple of different methods for creating line width variation in Illustrator. No one particular way is better than another and, in fact, sometimes it's a good idea to combine techniques. We'll do just that to add weight to our racer drawing.
